Links AARP (American Association of Retired Persons) - Serves the needs and interests of people 50+ through information and education, advocacy, and community services which are provided by a network of local chapters and volunteers throughout the country. AFSCME (American Federation of State County and Municipal Employees) Consumer Consortium on Assisted Living (CCAL) - National consumer-focused advocacy organization dedicated to the needs and rights of assisted living residents. Iowa Caregivers Association - A network of services for Certified Nurse Assistants, Home Health Aides, and those who have dedicated their careers to the care of others. National Clearinghouse on the Direct Care Workforce - The National Clearinghouse collects, analyzes, and disseminates information concerning the health care paraprofessional workforce. It was developed by the PHI, in cooperation with the Direct Care Alliance. National Network of Career Nursing Assistants Program - For caregivers who provide hands-on care to the frail, elderly, or chronically challenged citizens in nursing homes and other long term care settings. National Partnership for Women and Families (Caregivers Section) - Important federal laws, the Family and Medical Leave Act and The Health Insurance Portablitiy and Accountability Act, which can help caregivers. SEIU (Service Employees International Union) - Represents 1.3 million workers worldwide. The SKILL Center - A solution-oriented nonprofit organization committed to solving two important social problems at once – the need to increase employment opportunities for job seekers and the expanding need for home-based care for the elderly and disabled in New York City.
